To create a new report it is important to decide which data you want to use as a basis. You can decide to base your report on requirements, test cases, test scenarios, or defects. The layout designer will not be affected by your choice, only the information displayed after creating the report will be compromised. It makes sense to specify the required data basis as precise as possible in order to avoid loading too much data that is not required in your report.
To create a new template, click the 'New' button.
A dialogue will appear, where you can configure the basic settings for you report, like it's name and which data should be shown.
By clicking next you can define the shown data in detail. You can choose between three options:
Always load | Data is always loaded, no matter if used in report or not. Only use this, when you are sure, you need the data. |
User decides | When creating the report, the executing user can decide if the data is loaded. Appropriate setting for data you do not need always, but sometimes, e.g. test data. |
Never load | Data is not loaded for this report. Should be used for big data you do not need in this specific report, like history or attachments. |
When your settings are as you need them, click on 'Finish'. The empty template will open in the layout designer.
